Drop down menu [inactive]Do I have to have any type of certification to volunteer?
No certifications required! We only ask that you know how to swim, and if you don't, sign up for a program as a participant!
How will I know what to do?
We ask all of our volunteers to watch 8 short training videos which show you our curriculum, then you attend one in-person training day to ask questions and learn more. On each program night there will be a short recap of the night's goals so you don't forget!
How many volunteer hours will be required?
We ask that each of our volunteers complete approximately 3 hours of online training, then 2 hours of in-person training. Each night is a 2.5 hour commitment. We prefer that volunteers sign up for an entire 6 night program, but it is not required.
What should I wear?
Each volunteer will be provided with a t-shirt that identifies you on deck. A swimsuit and shorts are recommended.
Are you following CDC-Covid 19 safety recommendations?
All volunteers will be provided with a face shield while on deck and in the water. We will follow any other recommendations at the time of other programs.
How do I sign up?
Visit fwdpc.org and head to our volunteer page to sign up! Once you sign up, you will receive an email to complete a free background check. After the background check is confirmed, you will receive a follow-up email to sign up for specific shifts, and then additional information regarding training opportunities.
